Tour de 29: A Festival of Cities
Fulton County, Vice Chair, District 7 Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners and the Fulton County Department of Arts and Culture invite you to explore South Fulton during the Sixth Annual Tour de 29, a seven city festival on or near Highway 29 during September and October.
Tour de 29 was initiated in 2005 by Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, District 7, through the Fulton County Arts Council to enhance cultural programming in South Fulton County, a region with limited arts venues and professional arts organization. A partnership was formed between Fulton County government, seven South Fulton cities including: East Point, College Park, Hapeville, Union City, Fairburn, Palmetto and Chattahoochee Hills and business associations in an effort to build awareness, exposure and economic growth in South Fulton.
Through this partnership, the concept has grown from various arts activities in a few community venues to a multi-faceted festival that won the 2008 National Association of Counties (NACO) Arts and Culture award.
Tour de 29 offers residents a perfect opportunity to explore Highway 29, known as Lee Street in the city of Atlanta; Main Street in the cities of East Point, College Park and Palmetto; Roosevelt Highway in Union City, West Broad Street in Fairburn and through the city of Chattahoochee Hills.
